Our firm was hired by an Agency and worked closely with the Project Designer, Insight Architects. This was a DPW project and was completed in 2004. Our scope of work included interior materials and schedules, custom casework and millwork design and specification, complete FF&E specifications and management, and we took a special approach to lighting design.

We relied heavily on documented research and results from studies involving aging - decreased and yellowing vision, which requires increased and consistent artificial light levels as well as maximum exposure to natural light, helping circadian rhythm patterns; Alzheimer's - providing contained "wandering" paths within the facility and using calming patterns and textures in fabrics and materials; providing meaningful artwork that helps to calm the inner spirit and evoke positive memories of earlier life experiences; dementia - delineating horizontal and vertical planes within the Secure Care Unit by changing color hue, chroma and saturation so that residents are able to distinguish between floor, furniture, walls, etc.

"Suzie was a professional, easy to work with, and shared her ideas before proceeding with any phase of the assignment. She also worked well with the contractors, architects and state agencies involved"
